Re-Imagining church: shaped for mission
As we continue to listen for what it means to be the church that God calls us to be we will be hosting a 5 week series entitled: Reimagining Church. This is a five week series that will be held on Sundays from 2-4 beginning April 7 and led by Rebecca Craver, pastor at Edmonton Moravian, and her husband, Bobbie O’Connor. We will also be joined by members of the Sherwood Park United Church and the Avonmore United Church. We have also extended the invitation to St. Thomas Anglican and Mount Olivet Lutheran Churches. Ian and I are excited about this series and think that it will really be helpful in discerning where we, as a church, are being led from here.
Re-Imagining Church: shaped for mission:
This five session course is for those who realize that the church is facing serious challenges and who want to play a part in its re-shaping. Re-imagining church involves lots of group discussion, colourful visuals, thought provoking video, Bible discussion, opportunities for prayerful reflection and refreshments (it is a church function, after all).
Sessions will be from 2-4 on Sunday afternoons starting April 7 and will be held at Good News Moravian Church, 2 Primrose Blvd., Sherwood Park. Through the course of the 5 weeks we will look at changes in our culture and how they have affected church, the spiritual resources we have within the Christian faith that enable us to respond, what it means to be a Christian, a disciple today, models of how other churches have responded to the changing culture and an opportunity to look at where do we go from here. While it’s ideal to attend all 5 sessions, each one can stand alone so you are encouraged to come to as many as you can.
